History of the Pont-Audemer Spaniel
An ancient breed, it is thought the Pont-Audemer Spaniel is the result of crossing the French Spaniel in its original form with the Irish Water Spaniel, Poodle and/or Barbet. It is known the Irish Water Spaniel specifically was used after WWII to help strengthen the bloodline.
