Border Terrier

The Border Terrier was originally kept by farmers and were used to protect stock as well as for vermin control. It was essential that they be superb hunters, for they caught their own food to survive. This breed remained small enough to go to ground after foxes, yet also tall enough to keep pace with a horse and a pack of English Foxhounds.

History of the Border Terrier
The Border Terrier, as its name suggests, originated in the border country of England and Scotland along the Cheviot Hills. They date back to at least the 1700s and are considered by some to be the ancestor of all other terriers, particularly in the United Kingdom.
