About Worldly Dogs
Worldly Dogs began over ten years ago when I was working for a company that assisted in simple web design. My boss encouraged us build our own site and said to “choose something you are passionate about”. It was an easy choice. However, I had no idea when I started a “dog breed website” how many breeds there were worldwide. Three or four jobs and a decade gone and I still find more breeds to add to the site. It’s a project I am sure will never come to an end.
I have always loved dogs and can still remember my mom telling me as a child, “You can have as many pets as you want when you have a house of your own.” I don’t think she ever thought I would take her words to heart. Not that our house is overrun with dogs, but three seems to be my number. There have been a few times as an adult I’ve dropped down to only a pair, but I never stay that way for long.
Despite this site being devoted to dog breeds I am admittedly a rescuer and have never paid for a dog outside of an adoption fee. Not that I fault those that choose to breed responsibly, it’s the responsible part that is the key. For me, it’s the history of the individual breeds I find fascinating. As for the dogs themselves, I love them all.
Within the last few years I have become dedicated to training and belong to my local AKC obedience club. I am always in one class or another with Luna, Ella, and Charlie, or teaching. Currently we are dipping our toes into Agility and involved with the new Trick Dog program.
If you’re interested, you can find bios on my current and past dogs here.
Thanks for taking the time to browse the site and I hope you learned something new along the way!
