History of the Welsh Terrier
Records of dogs similar to the Welsh Terrier existing in Wales date back to 1450. It is believed to be descended from the extinct old Black and Tan Terrier, with later additions of Airedale, Lakeland and Irish Terriers added in the 18th century.
