History of the American Bully
The American Bully was selectively bred primarily American Pit Bull and American Staffordshire Terriers. Breeders wanted to take the desired traits of these two breeds and combine them into an ideal family companion. Through the years other bull and terrier breeds were added, such as the American Bulldog, English Bulldog, and Olde English Bulldogge. As these lines diverged from the American Pit Bull Terrier the United Kennel Club chose to adopt a separate standard for the American Bully as its own breed in 2013.
