History of the Slovenský Kopov
An ancient breed, the Slovakian Hound comes from unknown ancestry, although it is believed that the Austrian Black and Tan Hound and Chart Polski were used in its makeup. Before the division of Czechoslovakia this was the national dog of that country. Today the Fédération Cynologique Internationale recognizes Slovakia as its country of origin.
