History of the Koolie
Koolies have existed in Australia since the early 1800s. Their history is a bit of a mystery, with several theories. However, the most widely accepted is that they descend from the same European dogs used as a base stock for the extinct Hall’s Heeler.
Recent DNA testing show the Koolie has a close relation with the Australian Kelpie. There is also a distant tie to the Australian Shepherd, which was actually developed in the United States.
