History of the Hungarian Greyhound
It is believed the ancestors of the Hungarian Greyhound arrived in Hungary with the Magyars in the 9th century. These dogs were first referenced in writing by Count Arpad in 895-907 AD. Unfortunately, in the 19th century the original Hungarian Greyhound was heavily crossed with the English Greyhound and as a result the two are very similar today.
