History of the Perdiguero de Burgos
An old breed, it is believed the Perdiguero de Burgos has existed since at least the 1500s in northern Spain, particularly in the Leon, Vitoria and Burgos districts. Although their history is unknown it is likely their foundation breeds included the extinct Old Spanish Pointer and Italian scenthounds such as the Italian Hound. Once quite rare, it took the dedication of several breeders to save it from extinction in the early 1900s.
