History of the Chart Polski
An ancient breed, the ancestors of the Chart Polski are unknown, but it is likely closer in relation to the Saluki and other Asian sighthounds than the Greyhound. Dogs very similar to this type can be seen in Polish manuscripts dating back hundreds of years. This breed was popular with the Polish nobility, but in more modern times came close to extinction due to the Iron Curtain and WWII. Careful breeding has kept the line secure, if still relatively unknown outside its homeland.
