History of the Ca de Bestiar
The origin of the Ca de Bestiar is unknown, but it is believed to have guarded sheep on the Baleric Islands for centuries. Found specifically on the remote island of Majorca, these dogs were not subjected to outside interference or inbreeding and were left to natural selection. The Ca de Bestiar is similar in appearance to the Portuguese Cão de Castro Laboreiro and may share the same ancestry.
