History of the Olde English Bulldogge
The history of the modern Olde English Bulldogge began in 1971 when breeding project took place at Ohio State University to rapidly achieve a purebred dog. The goal was to return the Bulldog to the same appearance and build it had during the Victorian Era. The foundation stock for the breed consisted of 50% Bulldog and the other 50% a combination of Bullmastiff, American Pit Bull Terrier and American Bulldog. Today this breed matches the appearance of the original breed and was recognized by the United Kennel Club in 2014.
