History of the Deutsche Bracke
It is believed the Deutsche Bracke is descended from the ancient Celtic Hounds and is closely related to the Austrian grand brackes. Like the Austrian breeds there was once several types of German grand brackes known throughout the country, such as the Sauerlander Holzbracke and Westphalian Bracke. These types were combined in the late 1800s into a single breed under the name of Deutsche Bracke.
